Crock Pot Root Beer Float Soda Cake is one of my favorite Crock Pot Desserts. Root beer and chocolate cake collide in a moist and decadent root beer float soda cake.
If you love using boxed cake mixes to make desserts you will enjoy these recipes as well. Crockpot Lemon Dump Cake, Cherry Cheesecake Dump Cake, and a pumpkin Dump Cake.
Root Beer Float Soda Cake
I am a sucker for root beer floats. The sweet root beer with vanilla ice cream, is a summer drink I love. I wanted to create a root beer float cake that reminded me of my favorite drink.
This recipe is SO easy to make.
How To Make Root Beer Float Soda Cake
Step 1: Spray your crock pot with a cooking spray to prevent the cake from sticking.
Step 2: Now in a bowl you will take your chocolate cake mix and mix with the root beer. Give it a good mix until well combined.
Step 3: Pour cake mixture into crock pot and place lid on your crockpot. Cook on high for 2 to 2 ½ hours or 4 hours on low.
Step 4: Once cake is done scoop out and then serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a maraschino cherry on top.
What Is The Best Cake Mix To Use
To be honest any chocolate cake mix will work. I tend to buy whatever brand is on sale that week I go shopping.
You could potentially use a vanilla cake if you wanted, but I have not tried that so I can't fully vouch on the flavor.
How to Know When Crockpot Cake Is Done
To know this cake is done you will stick a toothpick in the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean the cake is done.
You will also see the cake pulls away a bit from the edges of your crock pot.
Could I Add Frosting To This Cake
If you want to skip ice cream on top and want to reach for frosting, go right ahead. You could use vanilla, cream cheese, or even chocolate frosting.
To make it easy you can reach for store bought frosting, or take the time to make homemade. Either way it will work great. Just allow the cake to cool down before you spread on or it will melt into the cake.
What Is The Best Root Beer To Use
Personally we love A&W or Barg's root beer. But depending on where you live you might have another favorite brand. I do recommend using a good quality root beer as it will stand out a bit in the flavor department.
Could I Use Cream Soda Instead
I don't see why you couldn't use cream soda in replace of root beer. It will add a bit more of vanilla flavor to your cake.
How To Store Your Cake
You are welcome to store your cake on the counter at room temperature in an airtight container. Or if you want you can store your cake covered and in the fridge.
Slice and serve your cake for around 4-5 days. After a few days it will begin to dry out a bit more.
